Johnson City Youth Football League: Frequently Asked Questions

Youth Football League

 

 

While the school meetings for the Johnson City Youth Football League are over, there is still time to sign-up. Registration can be found through this link. June 15 is the final day to register. It is important to register your player as soon as possible to allow us to get an idea of how many players we will have. It will also help us develop the schedule sooner.

Below, you will find answers to some frequently asked questions.

 

Age Divisions

After our meetings, we have determined that there will be three age divisions:

 

6-7 (5-year-olds can play up)

8-9

10-11

 

***The cut-off date will be August 1st. All 7th graders will need to play JV middle school football.

 

Important Dates

• Johnson City Youth Football League Coach’s Clinic by Science Hill Staff -  June 19th. Time TBA

 

• Players Camp with Science Hill Football team - June 20th. Time TBA

 

Equipment

Players will need to provide their own cleats, mouth guard and practice pants. New helmets, shoulder pads, gamer jerseys and game pants will all be provided through the league. This equipment will be distributed at a later date.

 

Practices

Practices will be three days a week from 6 pm to 8 pm throughout the season.

 

• 1st week of practice

July 17, 18, & 19 (helmets only) 6 pm – 8 pm

 

2nd week of practice

July 24 ,25, & 27 (shoulder pads & helmets) 6 pm - 8 pm

 

3rd week of practice

July 31, Aug. 1 and Aug. 3 (regular practice in full pads) 6 pm – 8 pm

 

Schedule

The first JCYL games will begin on Saturday, August 19. The schedule will be announced once sign-ups are completed. As it pertains to Fall Break, all teams will play Saturday, October 7. Teams will be off the following week, so there will be no games played on October 14.

 

 

Other Important Dates

 

July 28th

All teams are invited to watch the Science Hill Scrimmage with Morristown West @ Kermit Tipton (start time is 6 pm)

 

August 4th

All teams are invited to watch the Science Hill Scrimmage with Greeneville @ Kermit Tipton (start time is 6 pm)

 

August 18 (First game for Science Hill)

Science Hill vs. Elizabethton @ Kermit Tipton Stadium (all players get in free with their jersey)

 

Sports Physical

All players must have a current physical before they start practice. Physicals will be turned into their coach. We are currently setting up a date for sports physicals with ETSU Health.

 

We are currently working with ETSU Health to provide athletic trainer coverage at our games
